What is your heritage?

Born in Vientiane, Laos. I came to the US (San Francisco, CA) in 1979 with my immediate family (4 sisters and parents).

What makes you proud to be Lao?

I’m proud because our people stand together. We value the family unit and are very tight knit. Sometimes there’s 3 generations living in the same household because we take care of our children and our elderly. We continue to do so by caring for our extended family and paying tribute to our ancestors. We are inclusive as a nation.

How would you describe the work environment at County Federal, in terms of being inclusive and diverse?

In the branches, there are many people from different backgrounds, but everyone embraces each other. You can talk about anything, and there’s no tension regarding cultures. We bring food to share, people are open, and it’s a positive environment. It everywhere – look at our upper management team. We are very open.
