What is your heritage?

I was born in Sri Lanka, I am considered Sri Lankan which a lot of people don’t know where it is, or think it is part of India. But Sri Lanka is an island, separate from India. We have our own language, a majority of the island is Buddhist and the food is similar but only in the sense that we make curries too but it’s different at the same time.

What is your favorite cultural dish and why?

In Sri Lanka, we call them short eats, which are basically like appetizers here. My favorites are cutlets, fish patties, and fish buns. It’s potatoes mixed with spices and fish, breaded and then fried. And Mangosteen, which is a fruit, and so sweet and good!
